Should I ask permission before recording?
Yes. Ask everyone involved for permission before recording a medical appointment.
How do I ask my doctor for permission?
Keep it simple. Try one of these: “Would it be okay if I record so I don’t miss anything?” “Do you mind if I record this to review later with my family?” “I’d like to record your instructions so I follow them correctly. Is that alright?”
What if my doctor says no?
Stop recording and respect their decision. Right after the visit, open Doctor Notes and record a quick voice note of what you remember.
How long can a recording be?
At least 1 minute and up to 2 hours. If your visit runs longer, start a new recording at the 2-hour mark.
I forgot to record. Now what?
Open Doctor Notes after the appointment, press record and talk through what you remember. Do it as soon as you can, while the details are fresh.
How do I delete a recording or my account?
Delete any recording in the app. You can delete your whole account in the app too, or email hello@getdoctornotes.com.
Is Doctor Notes HIPAA-compliant?
